snap-happy

Thank you to everyone for the amazing love and support you shared on my last post. I’m absolutely loving the internship and have my first article for their website scheduled to go up on Monday!

I’d like to introduce you to the newest member of the family…

After months years of thinking, wishing, and researching, I finally bought a camera. I had every intention of investing in a serious DSLR camera (and even bought/returned a Canon Rebel t3i) but quickly realized that they just weren’t practical for me. I needed a camera that would take good, quality photos and that I could easily carry around with me- the Nikon 1 J3 fit the bill perfectly.

Not only will I [obviously] be using this for my blog photos, I’ll also be able to use it for different projects throughout my internship. It’s opening up a whole new world of photography for me.

…now I’ll just live off of rice and beans for the next few months. Sacrifice. (:

Here’s to practical investments…

  1. Congrats on your new baby! I hope you have fun getting to know her 🙂 I love my DLSR, but man oh man is it a pain in the butt to carry around. In fact, unless I know I’ll be taking a more serious shoot, I usually leave it at home and use my iPhone. It would definitely be nice to have something a little more portable.

      Thank you, Amanda!

I envy your DSLR- the photos are stunning! I just know I’m the type of person that would be too lazy to ever take it anywhere. I’ll definitely be sharing my review on this one in a month or so. Hopefully it will help if you ever decide to add a smaller camera to your family!

Ahhh congratulations!! The fancy camera will definitely change your life. I can’t wait to see how you like this camera…my DSLR is amazing but such a hassle to carry around. Lately I’ve been considering investing in a smaller, more portable version for travel. You should do a review in the future 🙂

That’s exactly why I decided against the DSLR. Eventually I would looove to own one but, right now, it’s just not very practical.
As soon as I have this one all figured out and I’m comfortable with it, I’ll definitely share my review! (:

Congrats on the new camera!! You will have to do a review when you get the chance, I’ve considered getting a new camera since mine is currently circa 2010 🙂

Thank you! I’m so in love with it. I’ve never owned a camera before (other than my pink digital camera in high school) so it’s a whole new world!

Love your new baby! I’m starting to research cameras since I’ve had my pink Kodak since 10th grade and I’d like something a little more professional. I’ll definitely be considering the Nikon since it’s more portable than a DSLR and probably a bit cheaper too!

It is! I got mine on sale too- I had been waiting until I saw a good deal and then snatched it up when there was one!
      I think you’d love it. (:

  6. yay!! I love new gadgets! I want to get a Polaroid type camera. pricey though and having to buy the film would suck.

That’s exactly why I haven’t invested in a polaroid camera! I love them but the film is so darn expensive…
